NYC Area – 4th of July Forecast and Beyond

New York City Area 4th of July Forecast:

A weak low pressure system will track to our south off the Delmarva, and eventually out to sea on the 4th. This gives the NY Metro Area a slight chance of showers, and may only result in some additional clouds for when it’s time for fireworks, especially in Long Island, NYC and into NJ. All rain should be light and scattered.

4km NAM does show showers in the late morning into the afternoon hours, although the NAM has showers clearing out by the evening. Most clouds should be gone by it’s time for fireworks, but some lingering clouds are certainly possible like I mentioned earlier, particularly in NYC, LI and, NJ.

All in all, it shouldn’t be a washout, and conditions should overall be favorable for viewing fireworks.

After Saturday, high pressure builds in and conditions should be fair through Wednesday. ECMWF, however, hints at some rain Tuesday as leftover convection get incorporated into the upper ridge. At this time, the ECMWF seems to be solitary on this exact solution, so precipitation chances should be fairly low on Tuesday. Regardless of a dry air mass Sunday to Wednesday, Precipitable Water values will generally be
at or below 1 inch  (NWS New York NY) – the humidity will not be particularly low, especially as the middle of the week arrives. Temperatures for the next week or two seem to be at or below average.
