Mountains will shield NoVa from Bill’s heavy rains

Bill is currently bringing heavy rains to Texas and Oklahoma, but when the remnants arrive in the northern Virginia area, the Appalachian mountains will do a decent job of blocking the rains from pouring down on NoVa. The WPC forecasts 1-1.5 inches of rain in the next 7 days, compared to 4+ inches on the windward side of the mountains. The bulk of this rain will come Saturday and Sunday, when anywhere between .5 and .75 inches of rain could fall, and tonight, where near a half inch could fall.
