Extreme Heat tomorrow , Strong Storms Thursday and New York 7 day Forecast

Good evening everyone ,

A very hot and humid air mass has worked into the mid-atlantic / northeast.

Tstorms have erupted today due to a sea breeze front , however ,most of the storms have remained below severe levels except to the north and east.

With high pressure in control today and tomorrow along with a very warm atmosphere from surface to 700mb storms will again be hard to come by.

However , like today the threat for sea breeze fronts will have to be monitored.

The peak of the heat will be tomorrow for much of the area along with high levels of humidity producing real feel temps near 100 and 100+ in the urban areas.

A cold front approaches the region on thursday with a high threat for strong to severe storms but more widespread than previous days.

With more lifting mechanism due to the cold front ,some cold air aloft at 500mb , and more sufficient wind shear  , a line of strong storms will develop.

These storms will produce frequent lightning , very heavy downpours , and wind gusts exceeding 50mph.

The latest images are from the 18z hi res NAM model.

After the passage of the cold front thursday evening , the humidity will noticeably drop , however temps on friday return to near 90 for much of the area.
