2016 To Open the Freezer Door On the Northeast

Well, I hope someone gave you a nice furry and warm winter coat, because you’re finally going to get to use it! Mother Nature will unleash the cold as a trough builds into the East Coast over the coming days. The colder air will start out on New Years Day, go through the weekend, and into the start of next week. Here is the 12z GFS run from Thursday:
The real core of the cold air comes in on Monday and Tuesday.
We are watching the possibility of some snow showers in the Northeast, especially towards New England. I’ll continue to watch that and keep you updated. Also, January 10th-12th seems to be a timeframe that needs to be watched for some potential storminess. There will be another blog post on that later tonight, so stay tuned!
