End of Week Rain & Storms

This week we have seen the chances of pop-up showers and storms in the area. Storms were non-severe in the area, as expected. All of these shower chances were due to the heat and the humidity. Although our heat wave is now over, the humidity will stay in place, and so will the rain chances. We are watching for more widespread rain, however, mostly on Friday. The 4km NAM has the rain out by around 12z Friday. The GFS and CMC disagree and have it raining throughout the day on Friday. Here is the latest 4km NAM run:

6z NAM run at 03z Friday

We will also see some showers around through the day on Thursday. They will be scattered, and we’ll probably see more clouds than sun as well, to make for a mostly cloudy forecast. Here is the latest 4km NAM run for Thursday:

6z 4km NAM run at 03z Thursday

6z 4km NAM run at 18z Thursday

You see in the last frame above that the rain for Friday starts to enter the area late Thursday night.

So let’s take a look at a written forecast day-by-day for the rest of this week:

Today (Wednesday): A mix of sun and clouds with a chance of scattered pop-up showers in the afternoon. Highs in the mid to upper 80s inland.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a thunderstorm. Highs in the low to mid 80s inland.

Thursday Night: Cloudy with scattered showers early, then more widespread rain entering the area in the late overnight. Lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Friday: Cloudy with rain showers, especially in the morning. **Timing of the rain is still unknown, as there could be showers throughout the day**. Highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Enjoy the rest of your week and stay cool!
