THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY NJ HAS CONFIRMED A
TORNADO NEAR TILDEN TOWNSHIP IN BERKS COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA ON JULY
9 2015.

A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SURVEY TEAM ACCOMPANIED BY BERKS COUNTY
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS SURVEYED THE DAMAGE IN TILDEN
TOWNSHIP. HARDWOOD TREES WERE SNAPPED ALONG THE PATH WITH A
SOYBEAN FIELD HAVING DEBRIS DRAGGED THROUGH IT WITH VISIBLE ARCING
MARKS. THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN THE VICINITY OF STONE ROAD,
TRACKED NORTHEASTWARD TO THE BLUE MOUNTAIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, THEN
INTO A CAMPGROUND AREA BEFORE LIFTING.

THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE BLUE MOUNTAIN
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHERE IT WAS CATASTROPHIC. THE ROOF WAS
COMPLETED REMOVED WITH THE BUILDING REPORTED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS.
ONE PERSON WAS REPORTED TO BE IN THE SCHOOL AND HAD TO BE RESCUED
AND EVALUATED.
