As Summer Sizzler Continues, Storms Remain Possibility
It has been one HOT, HOT, HOT week across the area, with temperatures in the 90s and heat indices as high as 105°, with some isolated spots in Southwestern New Jersey getting just above 110° on Sunday!! Tuesday, the heat will continue, and for many areas, it will be the third day of 90°+ temperatures, making this the second heat wave of the Summer season, and the first heat wave of July. However, we have had hotter years than this. Take a look at this graphic from Meteorologist Dave Curren from News12 New Jersey:

Now, as this summer sizzler continues for most areas on Tuesday, so does the afternoon and evening threat of thunderstorms. Here are the current computer models:
You see the RPM has the greatest threat in Southern NJ, which I agree with. Now, let’s look at the NAM:
TIMING: The time to watch for should be after around 3PM (as of now) on Tuesday through the overnight. However, the timing could change, so stay tuned to the latest updates. Tuesday morning into the early afternoon should be dry, but once again, it will be very hot!! Just because the heat advisories/warnings are over, doesn’t mean the heat is done with us! Also be cautious that there is a CODE ORANGE AIR QUALITY ALERT in effect for Tuesday. Below are my heat indices and storm threat maps, along with your hot weather safety tips!
